The company ISCAR I.V.F. a.s. was established in 1994 and in 2005 it started offering specialized medical services in the field of assisted reproduction. In the course of time, it has widened the scope of offered services – in 2005 the Centre for Obesity Treatment was opened, which provides a complex treatment of obesity, from conservative treatment all the way to bariatric and surgical methods. In 2007 the clinic added gastroenterology – Centre for Idiopathic Intestinal Inflammations – IBD where patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are treated, and at the same time the Clinic of Plastic Surgery was started, which offers a wide range of cosmetic procedures and surgeries.
The Centre of Assisted Reproduction IVF
The Centre started its activities in January 1995 as one of the first non-government centers of assisted reproduction in the Czech Republic. Due to the high success rate throughout the whole time of its existence, the centre ranks among the topmost facilities. The Centre is led by the Head Physician, MUDr. Milan Mrázek, Ph.D. The IVF team, including the IVF laboratory workers, has been trained by the top world specialist, mostly from Israel, where the success rate in treating infertility is the highest in the world. Thus, all the physicians working within the IVF program have the highest possible specialist qualifications, together with a number of specialized trainings and study visits abroad. The IVF Centre provides a whole range of curative procedures, including the most modern ones, such is ICSI, genetics, pre-implant diagnosing (PGD, PGS), cryo-conserving, etc. The Centre of Assisted Reproduction achieves its successes using many time-tested treatment methods.
Centre for Obesity Treatment
The Centre provides for complex treatment of obesity, including bariatric surgery, and is led by the Head Physician, MUDr. Ladislav Svoboda. On the team, there is an internist-obesitologist, dietitian, physiotherapist, psychologist, gastroenterologist and a surgeon. The Centre is unique since at one workplace, there are all the above-mentioned specialists. The goal of the Centre is to provide the patient, after the initial examination, with optimum care that will lead to a long-term weight reduction and thus to a treatment, or to prevention against diseases tied to obesity. The Centre for Obesity Treatment is the largest centre for surgical treatment of obesity in the Czech Republic and ranks among the five biggest center of this kind in Europe. Gastric banding is a very effective method to treat patients with severe obesity. The surgeons at this ward perform other laparoscopic surgeries, as well, such as removal of gall bladder and of appendix, surgery of gullet hernia, operations for reflux disease, operation of inguinual hernia, cicatrice hernia, and others.
Centre of Idiopathic Intestinal Inflammations – IBD Centre and Gastroenterology
The Centre, led by the Senior Consultant and Head Physician, Prof. MUDr. Milan Lukáš, CSc, focuses on diagnosing and treatment of patients with Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. Besides these clinical activities, there are also intense research activities aimed at uncovering the causes and chronic behavior of intestinal inflammations, together with new possibilities of medicament treatment of these diseases. The Centre has a close co-operation with the 1st Medical Faculty of the Charles’ University in Prague, and it also takes part in solving several international European projects in co-operation with the universities in Barcelona, Regensburg and Nottingham.
The Clinic of Plastic Surgery
The Clinic of Plastic Surgery, led by the Head Surgeon, MUDr. Jiří Kučera, offers a wide scope of procedures, such as operations of the face, chin and neck (including endoscopic modeling), forehead, nose, eyelids and lips (enlarging and modeling), protruding ear lobes, breasts, down-sizing (modeling and reduction), enlarging (augmentation), combination (modeling and augmentation), abdomen (abdominoplasty – including muscle reconstruction), arms, thighs and liposuction (liposuction with tumescence).
Thus, on the two floors of the modern Lighthouse building, a unique health-care facility is found that thanks to its equipment, technical specifications, expert personnel and success rate of treatment methods ranks amongst the top workplaces in the Czech Republic. On the overall area of 2000 m2 there are 29 beds, of which 22 are surgical and 7 gynecological, and 3 beds of ICU, 25 physicians and health-care personnel with 70 workers. The complex system of 3 operating rooms, including the harmonic scalpel, laparoscopy tower, video-gastroscopy, video-colonoscopy, etc., makes it possible to perform even the most demanding operations. Thanks to an audio-visual link between the operating room and the conference room, video-conferences, remote consultations and expert medical consultation can be done. The Clinical Centre ISCARE I.V.F. a.s. is a teaching facility of the 1st Medical Faculty of the Charles’ University in Prague and of the company Johnson&Johnson s.r.o.
