Traditinal Diet Treatment with the Help of an Obesitologist
A physician – obesitologist will see the patients in his surgery will find out about your present diet and eating habits, personal and family influences and your life-style. At the same time, he will examine the level of certain important substances and hormones in your body. Based on the findings, he will then make up a menu specifically for the patients.
Dietologist helps the patient to understand and apply a suitable diet in his every day life. As a part of the treatment, we recommend ways of movement that are suitable and bring feelings of joy. This type of treatment is fully covered by insurance companies so the patient does not have to pay anything extra.
Psychical problems, sometimes connected with obesity, can be consulted with our clinical psychologist – Mgr. Schucková.
Surgical Treatment of Obesity be Means of Laparoscopy
We perform corrective surgery of obesity, for example, gastric banding or sleeve gastrectomy at our modern, well-equipped Inpatient Ward. These operations are very effective, make for significant loss in weight, and they are, at the same time, simple and thus safe. So, they are suitable for patients with a higher degree of obesity. In the form of both treatment and prevention, they are recommended for diabetics, patients with high blood pressure and other diseases that accompany obesity. Our workplace has the most experience in the Czech Republic in this type of treatment and number of operations; thanks to these and thanks to standardized procedures and trough a lot of feedback we managed to lower complications to a minimum. In 2009 we operated on 395 patients. This type of treatment is fully covered by insurance companies so the patient does not have to pay anything extra. Full coverage is given by Všeobecná zdravotní pojišťovna, Oborová zdravotní pojišťovna, Pojišťovna ministerstva vnitra, Vojenská zdravotní pojišťovna, Metal-Alliance, and others.
Treatment with Abdominal Balloon
During the examination, a balloon is inserted into an abdomen which causes an early feeling of fullness. This method is fitting for patients who, because of health or other reasons, cannot or do not wish to use other, above mentioned ways of treating the obesity. It is recommended for patients with serious diseases that exclude an operation, because they would require an anesthesia. Sometimes, it is used pre-operatively when it can help with the initial loss of weight. However, it is unsuitable as just a single method because the results do not last so long, it can be recommended, nevertheless, as an accompanying part of other ways of treatment.
