During the examination, a rigid, inflexible device with a diameter of approximately 15 mm is inserted into the rectum. This allows for ultrasound imaging of the rectal wall, sphincters, and surrounding area, including the prostate and seminal vesicles in men and the vagina and, partially, the uterus in women.
Preparation for the examination:
- In indicated cases, it is necessary to perform local bowel cleansing in the form of an enema before the examination.
